An easy way to think of an Annual - its life cycle is one season. These are the pops of color you see in pots and planting beds that die off each year giving you the opportunity to come up with new designs and colors each season. 

Some examples of Annuals are:

Geraniums, Petunias, Begonias, Lantana, Marigolds, Impatiens, Sunflowers, Verbena, Zinnias
