There are many benefits to regularly mulching your plant beds and borders. Mulch provides UV protection to sensitive surface roots and keeps roots cool in the blistering heat. It also helps with water retention, and provides nutrients to the soil as the mulch breaks down. Mulch helps suppress weeds and it enhances the curb appeal of your home and garden spaces.

HKN recommends installing a 2 to 3 inch layer of mulch in your plating beds at least once a year.  In some cases a second lighter application of 1 to 2 inch may be needed.
